Questions parents ask
Where are the parent settings?
Tap the lock at the top right of the app. Without a parent login you'll see Create a parent login, Sign in, and About. The login is free.
How do the filters and the PIN work?
Make a parent login with your email and a password, then confirm it with the 6-digit code we email you. Next, choose a 4-digit PIN for that device. Behind the PIN you set the age setting (show channels up to an age you pick) and the content groups (which kinds of channels show). The PIN and the filters are saved on that device only. We never receive them.
Without a login the app still works, but anyone can watch every approved video and there are no filters.
I forgot my PIN.
Tap the lock, then Forgot PIN? Type the password for the login signed in on that device, then choose a new PIN. This needs the internet.
I forgot my password too.
On the same screen tap Forgot the password too? We email a 6-digit code. Type it, choose a new password, then a new PIN. Changing the password signs your login out on your other devices, so sign in there again.
Can my child turn the filters off?
Not from inside the app. Every setting is behind the PIN. But deleting the app, or clearing its data, removes everything saved on the device, the filters included. Use Screen Time on iPhone and iPad, or Google Family Link on Android, to stop apps from being deleted.
How do I ask for a channel?
Signed in, open the parent settings and tap Request a channel. Paste the channel's YouTube link or @handle. You can leave your email if you want one note when it's added. You can also email us the channel.
A video shouldn't be in the app.
Email us the video's title and channel. A curator can pull the video or the whole channel, and it leaves the app within about a minute. Curators pick whole channels with care, but nobody watches every single video.
How do I delete my parent login?
In the app: parent settings, then Delete login, then your PIN. Or use the delete page. It deletes your email, password and sign-in records straight away. Without a login there is nothing to delete with us. Uninstalling the app clears what it saved on the device.
Why do I see ads?
Videos play in YouTube's own player, and YouTube may show its own ads there. We can't remove them. PureView places no ads of its own.
